So Thankful for That Man of Mine!

Paul 2015

I’ve pinned your picture to the space upon my office wall

This winter storm around you . . . just seems to say it all

No matter what our lot has been, through good times and the sad

You’ve been the greatest friend to me, sweet husband and fine dad

Those steely eyes of blue speak peace, integrity so strong

Accepting good and bad alike – and knowing right from wrong

Of all the people that I’ve known, including mom and dad,

Your steadfast faith directs my path and makes my heart so glad

You are what God’s Word says to men – Ephesians Chapter Five

How others would be wise to walk and in that wisdom strive

So, thanks a lot sweet man of mine – I praise God for His plan

When God created you, my dear, He made an awesome man!

From the Over-Achiever in me . . . to the Over-Achiever in you

1 Peter 2:24 NIV

He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to our sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed.

 What is Wrong With ME?

Why does it seem to me – I am always set-aside,

Over-stepped, under loved, and thought unqualified?

Is it lack of learning or immaturity?

Or is it just my doubt of self and incongruity?

These are weighty questions and things that cause concern

The never-to-be answered thoughts that others shirk and spurn

Another is promoted or asked to do a task,

When I could do it also, if only they would ask.

My problem is I want to be EVERYTHING to all

Forget if it’s my forte’, forget that it’s my call

I simply want to be your friend, your wife, your mom, your child

Your boss, your help-extraordinaire, your go-fer meek and mild

I love the praise and accolades, attention, spoken name

My ego gets a great-big-boost with every thought of fame

Oh, Jesus! Help me Father, to set aside myself

Untangle all the hurt and harm; I put it on the shelf

And when I pick it up again, oh yes, that I will do!

this process is repeated, till I STOP and then see YOU.

And there you are just waiting for me to understand

I’ll long to do your bidding obeying each command.

Give me strength to stop attempts of longing to BE You

And help me to be Christ-LIKE, just as you tell me to

For there is just one Father, Son and Holy Ghost,

One Trinity to love and serve, I’ll be an honored host.

God IS GREAT!

1 John 3:19-20 “This then is how we know that we belong to the truth, and how we set our hearts at rest in his presence whenever our hearts condemn us for God is greater than our hearts and He knows everything.”

God is greater than our hearts, and everything he knows

He set the universe in place, sees every flake of snow.

He knows our first breath, and our last, each hair upon our head

He knows those going hungry and those who are well-fed.

He knows my thoughts, my heart as well, my intent and my way

And yet he sent His Son to die…no debt have I to pay!

His grace is free to all who ask, He lets his mercies flow.

Yes! God is greater than my heart, and everything He knows.

Review of Job Chapter 1, 2, and 3 in Rhyme

I’m teaching a Bible study class and we are currently in the book of Job.  This week I’ve written a Scripture poem from chapters 1-3 . . .

Job lived in the land called Uz, Upright, righteous – that he was

He shunned evil all his days , And sacrificed for sinful ways

His children had their dad to thank, When satan roamed and pulled some rank

The Lord God knew His servant well, And satan thought he’d news to tell

But Job praised God that fateful day, Though beasts and children fell away

The devil, yes that stinking one, Came back again . . . he was not done

From head to toe poor Job had sores, And painful stuff from all his pores

His wife was not a lot of help, “Curse God and die” she had to yelp

Job feared God and held his ground, The friends that came, they made no sound

Poor old Job, in chapter three, Sounds like I would, had it been me.

I often whine and cry and weep, Sometimes I cannot even sleep

Then, when I realize my fault, and read His Word, I’m worth my salt

It lifts me up, it makes me sing, So praise the Lord – YES praise the King!

Worship ~ Scripture Poetry ~

Hebrews 11:21 – “By faith Jacob, when he was dying, blessed each of Joseph’s sons and worshiped as he leaned on the top of his staff.”  NIV

I can worship while I’m washing my dishes, hair or car

I can worship while I’m working, whether home or country far

I can worship while I’m wondering and I’m planning out my day

I can worship while I’m wishing that a pain would go away

I can worship while I’m somber or am happy as I laugh

I can worship, just like Jacob, simply leaning on my staff.
